Pirogi are a traditional dish among Slavic peoples. It is hard to imagine a time when pies were not cooked. As a rule, even in the hungriest years peasants found something to bake pies with. Different kinds of flour were added to the dough, the stuffing was made of roots and cabbage.
Gradually the concept of cooking pies changed, new recipes appeared

However, baked goods invariably always remained on people’s tables. In different parts of the country pies were baked differently. Somewhere with potatoes, somewhere with meat, somewhere with mushrooms.
Let’s cook together simple pies with chicken and mushrooms

Ingredients for chicken and mushroom pies:
- Kefir – 300 ml;
- Sugar – 1 tbsp;
- Salt – 1 tsp;
- Egg – 1 pc;
- Vegetable oil – 20 g;
- Flour – 500 g;
- Baking powder – 1 tsp.
Ingredients for the filling:
- Chicken thighs – 400 g;
- Mushrooms – 200 g;
- Onions – 2 pcs;
- Butter – 50 g;
- Cream – 2 tbsp;
- Sour cream – 1 tbsp;
- Salt – ½ tsp.
Preparation of pies with chicken and mushrooms:
In a bowl with kefir pour salt and sugar, break an egg, pour in vegetable oil, whisk the components with a whisk. Pour in the kefir flour and baking powder, knead elastic and soft dough for 8 minutes.
Leave the dough for 30 minutes under a towel

At this time, for the filling, finely chop the onion, mushrooms and meat. Melt butter in a frying pan and fry onions and mushrooms first.
Add meat to onions and mushrooms and fry

Salt and pepper the stuffing, add flour, mix the components. Add cream and sour cream to the filling, mix.
Knead the dough, divide into 14 equal parts, form rolls.
Roll out each lump into a thick flatbread, where you put a spoonful of filling.
Seal the dough inside as if in a bag, roll up each pie and knead slightly.
Heat about 300 ml of vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the patties on both sides in the oil.
Initially place the patties with the seams facing down.
As a result, we have delicious fried patties with a tender filling. This is a good way to diversify your pie-making skills.
