Khachapuri is a treasure of Georgian cuisine. Far from this country in different European countries and in Asian countries know about such an interesting dish as khachapuri.
Many people try to cook khachapuri on their own. However, with a real Georgian dish, homemade flatbreads, unfortunately, will not compare. This is a certain kind of baked goods, traditional for Georgia. For this reason, no one can make khachapuri better than Georgians
. You can make ordinary cottage cheese flatbread. They will slightly resemble the taste of khachapuri. But, at the same time, they are faster and easier to prepare.
Ingredients for cottage cheese flatbread:
- cottage cheese – 300 g;
- eggs – 2 pcs;
- salt – ½ tsp;
- sugar – tbsp;
- vegetable oil – 4 tbsp;
- flour – 300 g;
- leavening agent – tsp;
- cheese – 300 g;
- cilantro – bundle;
- butter – 60 g.
Preparation of cottage cheese cakes:
Break eggs into cottage cheese, pour salt, granulated sugar, pour vegetable oil and mix thoroughly until homogeneous. Combine flour and baking powder, sift the bulk products into the cottage cheese mixture in batches. Knead
the dough, knead the lump with your hands.
Divide the dough into two equal parts, roll each into a large thick flatbread
. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater, put it on the flatbread
. Chop the cilantro finely, add it on top of the cheese layer.
Place a slice of butter on top of the cheese layer.
Seal the filling into the dough as if it were a pouch and roll each pouch into a flatbread.
Place the tortillas on a parchment-lined baking tray
, brush the tortillas with beaten egg and sprinkle the top of the tortillas with cheese.
Bake the tortillas at 180 degrees for 25 minutes.
