For a long time potatoes were a hidden vegetable for the whole world. It began to be eaten relatively recently. That is, with cabbage a person has been familiar with cabbage since antiquity, and with potatoes – since the XVI century. Even after a rambling acquaintance, no one ate potatoes. It was grown in gardens as an ornamental plant.
Only after a long couple of centuries people began to experiment with potatoes. Initially, they ate them incorrectly, causing many people to get poisoned. After many sad experiences, they learned to eat potatoes properly. Since then, potatoes are used everywhere.
Let’s prepare one of the delicious potato recipes – casserole with mashed potatoes.
Ingredients for potato casserole:
- Potatoes – 450 g;
- Ground beef – 450 g;
- Onion – 70 g;
- Butter – 60 g;
- Garlic – 2 cloves;
- Tomato paste – 2 tbsp;
- Salt – ½ tsp;
- Black pepper – ⅓ tsp;
- Carrots – 2 pcs;
- Bell pepper – 2 pcs;
- Egg – 1 pc;
- Milk – 100 ml;
- Cheddar cheese – 80 g.
Preparation of potato casserole:
Peeled potatoes cut into large cubes, boil until ready. In a frying pan fry minced meat, cut onions in half rings, put them in the same place.
In the frying pan press garlic cloves, put butter and mix. Add tomato paste to the minced meat, pour salt and ground black pepper, sugar – as desired.
Mix the ingredients, fry the minced meat in the paste for about a couple of minutes. Cut peeled carrots into small cubes, put them to the mince and continue to fry.
Peel the insides of the sweet pepper, cut into small cubes and fry with the mince for 2 minutes.
Mashed potato boiled potatoes, add butter, beat an egg, pour in milk and mix.
Grate cheese into the bowl with mashed potatoes, mix. Put the minced meat fried with vegetables into a baking mold. Put the mashed potatoes on the mince layer, make a pattern on the surface with a fork.
Grate the rest of the cheese on a fine grater and put it on the potato layer.
Bake the dish at 200 degrees for 20 minutes.
It turns out an excellent dinner for the whole family from potatoes and minced meat. This casserole combines a main course and a side dish.
