This type of pastry was named marble because the dough pattern resembles marble. Since in the Soviet Union, the dessert was often prepared for matinees for children, the name Zebra cake was more suitable. It subsequently stuck to this dessert for many years.

Ingredients for Zebra cake:
- semolina – 200 ml;
- Sugar – 200 ml;
- Kefir – 400 ml;
- Vegetable oil – 100 ml;
- Flour – 220 ml;
- Baking powder – tsp;
- Cocoa – 2 tbsp.
Preparation of Zebra cake:
First you should combine semolina with granulated sugar. Pour to the mixture of semolina and sugar kefir, mix thoroughly. Leave the mixture to swell for 15 minutes, cover the bowl with a flat plate.
Pour vegetable oil into the swollen dough, pour 200 ml of flour and baking powder, mix. ½ of the dough into another bowl, pour cocoa powder into it, mix.
Pour the rest of the flour into the second bowl with the dough and mix. Grease the baking mold with vegetable oil, lay out the brown and milk dough in staggered order with a tablespoon.
With a skewer move the pattern, create a beautiful pattern on the surface.
Bake the dessert in the oven at 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
