It turns out that cucumbers are an unusual vegetable, unique. The fact is that the cucumber consists of 95% of water. The remaining 5% are occupied by vitamins, fiber and useful substances.

For the first time cucumbers were bred at the foot of the Himalayan mountains. There, scientists discovered the oldest wild cucumbers. In the natural habitat of this vegetable still grows in the Himalayas.

Now there are many different types of cucumbers. They are used to create salads and other dishes. It is worth trying to make pickled cucumbers according to the Finnish recipe.

Ingredients for Finnish pickles:

  • Cucumbers – 2 kg;
  • Water – 1,5 liters;
  • Salt – 2 tbsp;
  • Sugar – 100 g;
  • Vinegar 9% – 100 ml;
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp;
  • Laurel leaf – 3 pcs.

Preparation of Finnish-style cucumbers:

Cut cucumbers into thick circles, 2-3 cm wide. Pour water into a saucepan, pour salt and sugar, stir.

Bring the future marinade to a boil over medium heat, pour vinegar into the liquid at this stage, pour mustard seeds, put bay leaves. Put the cucumbers in the marinade, wait 4 minutes until they change color.

Cucumbers are transferred together with the marinade into jars, close tightly with lids

Leave the Finnish cucumbers in the heat for 12 hours under a towel.
