Cutlets first appeared in France and became a national treasure of the country. However, it was our domestic interpretation of cutlets that was able to conquer the world. The thing is that the French prepared this meat product from ribs, the meat was not chopped
. Our cooks came up with the idea of chopping the meat so that butter and spices could be added to it. The English liked the recipe so much that in 2006 Kiev cutlets were included in the list of frequently purchased products in England.
Kiev cutlets are also loved in the U.S., where they are popular in restaurants and cafes of our cuisine.
Let’s make juicy homemade cutlets with potato shell.
Ingredients for cutlets with potato shell:
- potatoes – 4 pcs;
- minced meat – 550 g;
- onion – 3 pcs;
- salt – ½ tsp;
- nutmeg – ½ tsp;
- oregano – tsp;
- ground black pepper – ½ tsp;
- garlic – 2 cloves;
- eggs – 3 pcs;
- flour – 2 tbsp;
- boiled eggs – 2 pcs;
- crab sticks – 150 g;
- canned corn – 60 g;
- cucumber – pcs;
- cheese – 50 g;
- mayonnaise – tbsp.
Preparation of cutlets with potato shell:
Chop the peeled potatoes on large grater teeth, pour cold water over the mass. Onion cut into small cubes, mix with minced
meat. To the meat mass pour salt, ground black pepper, oregano and nutmeg

Press garlic cloves through the press, put them to the minced meat and mix everything.
Form small cutlets from the meat mass.
Squeeze the potato mass from excess water, mix it with eggs, salt and flour. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry flatbreads from the potato mixture.
Place a cutlet on the flatbread, cover with a second layer of potato mixture. Fry the cutlet in the potato shell on both sides until golden.
Transfer the cutlets to a baking tray lined with parchment. Put a piece of butter on each cutlet, bake the dish in the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes.
