One of the most economical dishes in the Middle Ages was casserole. The fact is that this dish was prepared from the leftovers left on the table after dinner. Actually, from these meager viands was prepared dinner in the form of a casserole. Only after a while casserole became a more refined dish.
Opinions about the origin of casserole vary. In a large number of countries cooked something similar to the classic casserole. For example, in our country, the dish was replaced by noodle soup, in France they prepared gratin
. Probably, in all peoples of the world there was a budget dish with quick preparation. Later, the totality of these dishes were combined with one word – casserole.
Let’s prepare today a delicious homemade meat casserole

Ingredients for casserole:
- minced meat – 700 g;
- onion – pcs.;
- garlic – 7 pcs;
- sausages – 3 pcs;
- salt – 2 tsp;
- olive oil – 3 tbsp;
- tomato – 4 pcs;
- paprika – 2 tsp;
- oregano – tsp;
- beer – 250 ml;
- eggs – 11 pcs;
- flour – 400 g;
- parsley – bundle;
- ricotta – 200 g;
- cheddar – 250 g;
- parmesan – 100 g.
Preparation of the casserole:
Cut the onion into small cubes and fry in a couple of spoonfuls of olive oil in a pan for a couple of minutes. While the onion is frying, mince the garlic and integrate it into the frying pan.
Make mince from the meat, send it to the frying pan together with the sausages and fry the onion for 5 minutes, don’t forget to salt it. While the mince is cooking, cut tomatoes into slices, put them to the meat

Pour paprika, oregano to the meat mixture, pour beer over the mixture and leave it to stew on low heat for 10 minutes under a lid. Separate the yolks from the whites of 10 eggs, mix the yolks with the flour, salt, knead
the dough and leave it warm for 10 minutes. In the meantime, chop the parsley, mix with the ricotta and the remaining egg. Divide the dough into 4 portions, roll each one into a thin layer equal to the diameter of the pan.
Place half of the total amount of mincemeat on the surface of the pan, cover it with a layer of dough. Put a part of the cheese filling on the surface of the cake.
Shred cheddar and parmesan on small grating teeth, creating a pillow on the cheese filling. Similarly lay out the remaining layers of stuffing, dough and filling.
On medium heat cook the casserole under a lid for 25 minutes.
The result is a tasty and hearty dish that you can surprise your guests with.
