Layered salads became especially popular in the XX century. Chefs refer this type of salad with complex appetizers. To prepare them, it is necessary to correctly lay out all the ingredients in layers, observing the proportions and cutting. It is important to soak each layer, so that the salad in the end was not dry. As a rule, mayonnaise is used for impregnation.
Chefs advise for puffed salads to take homemade mayonnaise. It has a more delicate flavor, which is able to complement well both vegetable and fish or meat layers of the salad.
For most salads prepared in layers, it is worth boiling the vegetables. The exception is onions and fruits, such as apples. Otherwise, there can be an imbalance in the flavors that will spoil the whole dish.
During the cooking of both meat and vegetables, you should be sure to salt the products. It is undesirable to salt each layer in the salad. So the dish can become oversalted, which will again spoil its flavor.
Let’s prepare together a simple and hearty salad “Governor’s” with beets, chicken and cheese
Ingredients:
- chicken breast – 350 g;
- garlic – 3 cloves;
- mayonnaise;
- smoked/hard cheese – 120 g;
- cooked carrots – 2 pcs;
- boiled eggs – 4 pcs;
- boiled beets – 2 pcs;
- salt.
Preparation of salad “Governor’s”:
Separate the chicken breast into fibers, add to it 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, rub garlic cloves finely and mix. Put the chicken layer first in the salad bowl.
Grate hard or smoked cheese on a coarse grater and sprinkle it on the chicken layer. Cover the cheese layer with mayonnaise. Grate
coarsely grated cooked carrots and put them on the cheese layer, smear with mayonnaise. Grate eggs, put them on the carrot layer, cover with mayonnaise.
Grate beets on a coarse grater and put them on the egg layer. Smear the beet layer with mayonnaise, cover the salad with food film and leave it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.

For decoration sprinkle the salad with chopped herbs and pomegranate grains.
