Napoleon cake is one of the most popular and favorite desserts all over the world. Delicate and airy, it has many layers and a crispy crust that literally melts in your mouth.

There are several versions of the origin of this cake, but all of them are connected with France in the early XIX century. According to one of them, the cake was created on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of the victory over Napoleon Bonaparte and served in the form of triangular cakes symbolizing the emperor’s famous hat

. According to another version, the dessert was invented by Napoleon himself to impress his beloved Josephine.

Let’s prepare a quick homemade cake “Napoleon”.

Ingredients:

  • Puff pastry – 1 kg;
  • Milk – 1 liter;
  • Egg – 4 pcs;
  • Sugar – 300 g;
  • Flour – 4 tbsp;
  • Vanillin – ½ tsp;
  • Butter – 150 g.

Preparation of the cake “Napoleon”:

While the puff pastry is defrosting, mix eggs with sugar, vanillin and flour for the cream. Pour into the mixture 250 ml of milk from the total amount, keep stirring

. Then pour the rest of the milk into the mixture, on medium heat bring the mass to thickening. In this case, do not forget to constantly stir the custard base.

Pour butter into the mass, stir until it dissolves in the cream. Cover the top of the cream with cling film and leave to cool.
