Crab salad is a popular dish that combines crab sticks, boiled rice, canned corn, boiled eggs, fresh cucumber and mayonnaise. The

exact origin of crab salad is unknown, but there are several versions of its appearance. One of them says that crab salad appeared in the USSR in the 1970s as an alternative to Olivier salad. At that time, crab sticks were available in stores and became the basis of the new salad.

Another version links the appearance of crab salad with the shortage of products in the USSR. With a limited choice of products, hostesses experimented with what was available and created new dishes.

So appeared crab salad, which quickly became famous throughout the country.

Ingredients:

  • Crab sticks – 200 g;
  • Juice – 1/3 lemon;
  • Eggs – 3 pcs;
  • Cheese – 50 g;
  • Mayonnaise – 2 tbsp;
  • Garlic – 1 clove;
  • Bread – 3 pieces;
  • Dried garlic – 1 tsp;
  • Provan herbs – 1 tsp;
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp.

Preparation of crab salad:

Cut crab sticks into small cubes, splash them with lemon juice. Cut small cubes of bread slices, put them in a cellophane bag.

Salt the bread, pour dried garlic and Provencal herbs to it, mix thoroughly. Pour vegetable oil to the bread pieces, stir in the cellophane

. Put the bread pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment and bake at 200 degrees for 7 minutes. At this time, chop finely boiled eggs, chop dill

. Grate cheese on a coarse grater and pour together with eggs and dill to the crab sticks. Add to the sticks also breadcrumbs, rub a clove of garlic.
