Doughnuts are a confection made of fried dough with a hole in the middle. They are popular in many countries of the world and have a rich history. There is no exact data on where and when the first doughnuts appeared.
According to one version, the first doughnuts appeared in ancient Rome. The Romans prepared a dish similar to modern donuts from dough fried in fat. In Europe, doughnuts became popular in the Middle Ages. Then they were made of yeast dough, which was fried in oil. Donuts came to America together with European settlers. Here they became especially popular and acquired their modern appearance. Today, doughnuts remain a favorite treat in many countries of the world.
They are prepared according to different recipes, with different fillings and sprinkles.
Ingredients:
- Flour – 500 g;
- Egg – 20 g;
- Water – 310 g;
- Sugar – 60 g;
- Dry yeast – 6 g;
- Margarine – 30 g;
- Salt – 5 g;
- Vegetable oil – 500 g.
Preparation of doughnuts:
Pour water into the depression in the flour, add the egg. Pour sugar, salt and dry yeast into the mixture, mix the components.
Add margarine to the total mass, knead the dough for 10 minutes. Transfer the formed dough to a container greased with vegetable oil, grease
the dough with vegetable oil and leave it under cellophane for 1.5 hours. Knead the dough and divide it into 25-gram rolls
. Leave the rolls on the table for 8 minutes and then make a hole in each one. Leave the doughnuts for another 10 minutes on the table.
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and place the doughnuts in it. Fry the doughnuts on each side for a couple of minutes.

You get puffy soft doughnuts. You can sprinkle them with powdered sugar after cooking.
