Flatbread existed before bread. It is one of the first dishes that people learned to cook. It can be seen that almost every cuisine in the world has its own national flatbread. In the East and in South America, tortillas are prepared almost unchanged. The recipes have been preserved since antiquity.
Pancakes, by the way, are also a type of flatbread, as well as pancakes and draaniki. The
first flat
breads
were found by archaeologists quite a long time ago. This bread was baked 25,000 years ago. Of course, compared to modern bread, those flatbreads look primitive. But they’re the beginning of cooking. Let’s make square flatbread with meat inside.
The ingredients for the flatbread dough:
- Flour – 400 g;
- Salt – 1 tsp;
- Water – 200 ml;
- Vegetable oil – 3 tbsp.
Ingredients for stuffing:
- Stuffing – 400 g;
- Green onions – a bundle;
- Parsley – a bunch;
- Dill – a bunch;
- Vegetable oil – 70 ml;
- Salt – ½ tsp;
- Butter – 150 g.
Preparation of tortillas with meat:
Pour salt into warm water, pour in oil and stir until the grains of sand dissolve
. Pour flour into the water and knead an elastic pliable dough.
Heat 30 ml of vegetable oil in a frying pan, fry minced meat on it
.
Finely chop dill, parsley and green onions and add them to the fried minced meat.
Knead
the
dough
and
divide it into 6 equal portions, form
rolls
and leave them under cellophane for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle the table with flour
and
roll out a thin large layer of dough
.
Melt butter and spread it on the layer, pour ⅙ part of the filling on the surface.
Roll the opposite edges of the dough toward the middle. Roll the ends of the strip of dough also to the middle, we get a square envelope.
In a frying pan in vegetable oil fry the square on both sides until golden crust.
Do the same with the rest of the filling and dough.
You get flavorful and ruddy flatbreads. They are suitable as a snack and as an addition to the main course.
