The history of hazelnut straws dates back to European cuisine. The exact origin of this dessert is unknown, but it is believed to have originated in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Nut tubes are a crispy sand dough rolled into rolls and filled with nuts and sugar. This dessert has become popular because of its flavor and texture. In different countries, nut tubes can have their own peculiarities. For example, in Germany they are often made with marzipan, and in Switzerland with almonds.
Today, nut tubes remain a popular dessert in many countries around the world. They can be prepared with different nuts and fillings, which allows you to create many variations of this dessert.
Ingredients for the dough:
- Flour – 300 g;
- Salt – a pinch;
- Leavening agent – 1/2 tsp;
- Vanilla sugar – 1 tsp;
- Butter – 100 g;
- Sour cream – 200 g;
- Egg yolk – 1 pc.
Ingredients for the filling:
- Nuts – 200 g;
- Egg white – 1 pc;
- Sugar – 2 tbsp;
- Powdered sugar – 5 tbsp.
Preparation of nut tubes:
Mix flour, salt, vanilla sugar and baking powder. Add cold butter to the mixture, create a creamy crumb
. Add sour cream and egg yolk to the dough, quickly knead with your hands elastic and not sticky dough. Leave the dough in cellophane for 15 minutes in the refrigerator.
For the filling, chop the nuts in a blender. In a separate bowl, beat the protein with sugar to a fluffy mass. Mix the mass with chopped nuts.
Divide the dough into 4 parts, roll each part into a thin cake, divide into 8 triangles. Put stuffing in the thick part of each triangle and wrap the thick end inside.
Bake the tubes at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
After baking put 3-4 tubes each in a cellophane bag with powdered sugar and mix inside.
We get sweet walnut tubes for every day.
