History is silent on when the first cakes were created. There are several assumptions about how desserts originated in consumer culture. According to one version, cakes were baked in ancient Greece, later in Italy. In translation from Italian, cake means decorated bread.
However, the inhabitants of the East do not agree with this theory. Confectioners believe that cakes are analogs of Oriental sweets. It
is difficult to say whose theory is correct. Cake is a dessert with a centuries-old history. The progenitor was probably a sweet pie. Let’s prepare a sweet pie that will replace cakes.
Cinnamon cake batter ingredients:
- Flour – 420 g;
- Eggs – 2 pcs;
- Warm milk – 200 ml;
- Sugar – 100 g;
- Butter – 100 g;
- Fresh yeast – 15 g;
- Vanilla sugar – 10 g.
Ingredients for the sugar crumble:
- Butter – 40 g;
- Sugar – 3 tbsp;
- Flour – 3 tbsp;
- Cinnamon – 1 tsp.
Preparation of cinnamon pie:
In a bowl break eggs, pour granulated sugar and vanilla sugar, mix until homogeneous. In the microwave, melt butter, together with warm milk, pour into the egg mixture.
Add fresh yeast to the mass, mix the components. Sift the flour into the mixture, knead a thick, stiff dough with a whisk.
Cover the dough with cling film and leave it warm for 45 minutes.
In
the meantime, prepare the sugar crumble – mix the sugar and butter with a fork
. Pour the flour and cinnamon into the creamy crumble and continue mixing the ingredients. Cut out a circle of parchment, equal to the diameter of the pan.
Put the pan on low heat, lay the dough on the surface.
In the dough with a spoon create a depression, where we put the cream crumbs.
When the crumb has entered the dough, covered the surface of the pie, cover it with a lid. Cook the pie on low heat for 40 minutes.
Next, cover the top of the pie with parchment, turn it over onto a plate.
From the plate, place the browned part of the pie on top of the pan.
Let the pie cook under the lid for an additional 15 minutes.
Do not forget to remove the condensation from the lid.
If you do not like cinnamon, you can replace this ingredient with vanilla sugar. However, it is with cinnamon that the pie gets its aroma and special flavor.
