A forgotten recipe from a Soviet canteen. It’s what my grandmother used to make in the ’60s.

Casserole is not particularly popular, but at the same time very hearty and tasty dish. It came to our country relatively recently, in the 18th century. Previously

casserole was cooked only in European countries.

Presumably, the casserole was invented by accident. Housewives gathered together everything that remained on the table after the meal.

From the leftovers, a new dish was prepared. So European women could re-feed the family, while not spending on food.

However, in our country did not think about saving money. Casseroles were prepared for boyars and other nobility. Meat, cheeses, vegetables and other expensive components were used.

We will prepare a more budget-friendly version of casseroles, which will be relevant for modern housewives

Ingredients for the casserole:

  • minced meat – 400 g;
  • cheese – 150 g;
  • salt – ½ tsp;
  • tomatoes – pcs;
  • kefir – 100 ml;
  • vegetable oil – 3 tablespoons;
  • garlic – 3 cloves;
  • onions – pcs;
  • potatoes – 3 pcs.

Preparation of the casserole:

In the minced meat add kefir and pressed garlic, salt and mix the mass well. Peeled potatoes cut into thin quarters, mix with vegetable oil and spices to taste.

In a baking mold put a layer of potatoes, which is covered with onions, pre-cut into quarter rings. On the onion pillow lay out minced meat, on the meat layer move finely chopped tomato.

Rub cheese on medium-sized cloves, form a cheese cap on the tomato layer.
