The joke that the favorite dish of northern peoples often consists only of meat and dough has conquered the entire Internet. However, there is some truth in this joke. Because of the harsh climate, people ate very hearty. Building up the fat layer and muscle mass allowed to survive the bitter cold. It
is believed that the first pies were cooked with meat. Other fillings came to the kitchens of the North Koreans much later.
When people began
to
move to the cities, vegetable pies
became a
tribute to tradition. For example, with all the abundance of food, potato pies are still popular.
Ingredients for potato pies:
- kefir – 250 ml;
- egg – pcs;
- salt – tsp;
- sugar – tbsp;
- vegetable oil – 30 ml;
- flour – 400 g;
- leavening agent – tsp;
- boiled potatoes – 400 g;
- onion – pcs;
- parsley – bundle.
Preparation of pies with potatoes:
In a bowl with kefir, mix egg, salt, granulated sugar and vegetable oil. To the resulting mixture pour flour combined with leavening agent, knead the dough with your hands, not sticky and pliable.
Take the dough in a cellophane bag, leave it warm for 15 minutes
.
For the filling, mashed potato the peeled boiled potatoes. Cut quarter rings of onion and fry in vegetable oil until soft.
Finely chop a bunch of parsley, put together with the onion in the mashed potatoes
.
Salt the filling to taste, mix the ingredients.
Divide the dough into 16 lumps, which we cover with cellophane and a towel. One by one knead each lump into a small flatbread, where we put a spoonful of stuffing.
Seal the filling in the dough, turn the patties over with the seam down. In the heated vegetable oil on medium heat fry the patties until golden.
Due to kefir, the dough for the patties turns out airy and soft.
