Meatballs are small balls of minced meat or fish that are used in many cuisines around the world. They can be prepared in various ways: fried, stewed, baked or boiled. Meatballs are added to soups, stews, sauces and other dishes. The
exact origin of meatballs is difficult to determine, as they have been popular among many peoples for centuries. However, it can be assumed that meatballs originated as a way to utilize leftover meat or minced meat. In Europe, meatballs have been known since antiquity. In ancient Greece and Rome, they were prepared from various types of meat and served with sauces and seasonings. In the Middle Ages, meatballs became a popular dish in Europe, especially in Italy and Sweden.
Let’s prepare a dinner of meatballs

Ingredients:
- Stuffing – 500 g;
- Garlic – 6 cloves;
- Egg – 1 pc;
- Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp;
- Butter – 40 g;
- Potatoes – 1.5 kg;
- Onion – 1 pc;
- Carrots – 1 pc;
- Sweet pepper – 1 pc;
- Tomatoes in their own juice – 300 g;
- Sugar – 1 tbsp;
- Green onions – 6 sprigs;
- Salt – a pinch;
- Paprika – ⅓ tsp;
- Coriander – ⅓ tsp.
Preparation of meatballs:
In the mincemeat, run garlic cloves through the press, beat eggs, pour salt, pepper, paprika and coriander. Mix all the ingredients in the minced meat, shape balls with hands soaked in water.
Melt butter in a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil. Fry the minced meat balls in the oil in the frying pan until golden.
Cut the peeled potatoes into slices

Remove the balls from the pan, put the potatoes and fry them with spices under a lid until half-cooked.
Remove the potatoes from the pan, chop finely onions, carrots, sweet peppers and a couple of garlic cloves

Put onions and carrots in the frying pan and fry for 3-4 minutes.
Then put sweet peppers and garlic cloves to the onions and carrots, pour tomato juice over the vegetables. Stew the mixture under a lid for 15 minutes, and then sprinkle with sugar.
Put potatoes in the vegetable mass, chop green onions

Put the meatballs into the vegetable and potato mixture, cover with a lid and stew for 15-20 minutes.
The result is an excellent hearty dish for dinner. Meatballs with potatoes is a win-win option for lunch as well.
