Lavash is an important bread product for most of the peoples of Central Asia. In particular, Armenian thin lavash has gained popularity.
This flour product can be served with a huge number of products. Basically, vegetable and meat fillings are placed on lavash sheets. For example, prepare shawarma or wrap lulia kebab.
Many different types of pita are presented on the shelves of stores. But, bought pita is not comparable to homemade. Therefore, it is worth learning how to prepare pita on your own.
Ingredients for lavash:
- flour – 250 g;
- salt – tsp;
- water – 125 g;
- sugar – tsp;
- vegetable oil – 25 g;
- dry yeast – tsp.
Preparation of pita bread:
Slightly heat water to 30-35 degrees, pour yeast and granulated sugar into it. It is necessary to mix the ingredients until they are completely dissolved. The
yeast liquid is left for 15 minutes until the appearance of lush foam. Mix the flour and salt in a separate bowl, pour in the yeast liquid and vegetable oil.
Mix the dough until it forms an elastic and not sticky colobok

Cover the dough tightly with cling film and leave it in the heat for 15 minutes.
Then knead the dough again and divide it into 12 pieces. If you want to make large diameter pita bread, you can divide the dough into 6 parts.
Cover the lumps with cling film. Take out one lump at a time, put it on a surface sprinkled with flour and roll out with a rolling pin into a thin round layer.
Heat a frying pan without vegetable oil. Place the pita on the pan, fry for 10 seconds on each side.
Large lavash should be baked in the oven, and constantly monitor the process. As soon as one side of the pita is browned, you can flip and bake the second side.
After cooking, place the pita on a damp towel, sprinkle with water and cover with a second towel. You get a homemade elastic and moist pita.
