Alionka’s Orange Diaper Cookies – the same grandma’s recipe from the 70’s, but with a new filling!

Orange cookies are a flavorful unusual dessert with notes of citrus, which is perfect for a festive tea party. Such cookies can be prepared by yourself, they do not require complex cooking skills. The main component for the filling is orange. It gives the crumbly dough a special flavor with a slight, barely noticeable sourness.

The filling in the sand dough turns out bright orange, beautiful when cut.

Oranges were first added to baked goods in the Middle Ages. At that time, the fruit was considered quite expensive. Therefore, only rich people could afford it. Gradually, recipes for desserts with orange were improved. A great contribution to the development of citrus pastries was made by confectioners from Italy. It was there that the famous Biscotti and Amaretti appeared.

Let’s tell you how to cook a simple cookie with orange “Alyonka in a diaper”

Ingredients for the dough:

  • flour – 300 g;
  • salt – a pinch;
  • leavening agent – ½ tsp;
  • vanilla sugar – 2 tsp;
  • butter – 100 g;
  • sour cream – 150 g;
  • egg – 1 pc.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • oranges – 450 g;
  • sugar – 100 g;
  • cornstarch – 2 tbsp.

Preparation of orange cookies:

Mix flour with salt, baking powder and vanilla sugar. Grate the cold butter into the flour on a coarse grater

and rub the butter with the flour until crumbly. Add sour cream to the dough, beat an egg and knead elastic not sticky dough.

Leave the dough under cellophane in the refrigerator for half an hour. For the filling, grate the orange zest finely, remove the peel and cut the pulp into small pieces. Grind
