Potato pies became very popular in the Soviet Union. Every grandmother baked them. They were also sold by grandmothers at train stations and parks. As a rule, potatoes for baking were natural. If you were lucky, the milk and eggs in the pies were homemade
. The price of pies was small, which generated an even greater flow of customers. Modern pies do not compare with those that were cooked in the past. Probably, in addition to natural products, cooking utensils also played a big role. Pies at grandmothers were from the oven, and now from the oven.
Let’s try to make fluffy potato pies at home.
Ingredients of the dough for potato patties:
- warm water – 100 ml;
- butter – 30 ml;
- milk – 50 ml;
- salt – 1 tbsp;
- egg – 1 pcs;
- vinegar – 1 tsp;
- yeast – 1 tbsp;
- flour – 300 g.
Ingredients for stuffing:
- boiled potatoes;
- salt – 1 tsp;
- onion – 1 pc;
- black pepper – a pinch.
Preparation of potato patties:
Melt butter and pour it into a bowl with warm water. Pour in milk and vinegar, beaten egg, salt and yeast, stir.
Sift flour into the mixture, knead elastic and soft dough

Leave the dough under cellophane for 30 minutes.
For the filling boil potatoes, mix with salt and black pepper, grind to a mashed state. Chop onions finely and fry in vegetable oil until golden.
Put the onions and oil into the mashed potatoes, mix. Knead the dough and divide it into small rolls. Leave the rolls under cellophane for 5 minutes.
Use your hands to create small tortillas from the rolls, where you put the filling. Seal the filling inside the dough.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Dip half of the patties into the oil and fry until browned on both sides.
If desired, you can also add herbs to the filling.
Simple puffy potato patties are obtained.
