Potato pies gained popularity in the nineteenth century. However, it seems to us that potato pies have existed in our culture much longer. This is impossible, since for a long time people did not know how to properly eat this vegetable.
Potatoes were brought to Europe around the 16th century
.
Many planted it as an ornamental plant. Only after some time people began to eat potato tubers instead of flowers.
They began to add the vegetable first in salads, then in soups. Potatoes were added to baked goods, presumably in our country. Since then, this filling is one of the most relevant.
Ingredients for potato patties:
- water – 100 ml;
- salt – tsp;
- vegetable oil – tbsp;
- dill – bundle;
- flour – 250 g;
- potatoes – 2 pcs;
- butter – 50 g;
- parsley – a bunch.
Preparation of potato patties:
In a bowl with water pour salt, stir until the granules dissolve. Pour vegetable oil into the salted water, mix again.
Finely chop dill, add to the salted water, sift in parts of flour. Knead elastic and not sticky dough with hands, then roll out into a thin cake.
Boil the potatoes in advance, peel them and mashed potato them to a puree. Mix potatoes with butter and chopped parsley.
Measure the size of future pie plates by the diameter of a glass. Cut out a circle of small tortillas with a glass, put a tablespoon of filling on each half-circle. Cover the mashed potatoes with the second semicircle and seal.
Heat 100 ml of vegetable oil in a frying pan and drop the patties into it. Fry the patties over medium heat until golden on both sides.
As a result, you get quick potato patties with herbs. With this dough you can also cook meat and mushroom patties.
