Any sweet tooth dreams of eating cakes on a regular basis. Fortunately, such desires are almost unrealizable. Cakes, of course, are a delicious sweet treat, but it should be consumed in moderation.

It is believed that the first cakes appeared in ancient Rome. In addition to archaeological artifacts in the form of bread with patterns, the Latin language has a word that resembles our colloquial “cake”. Only in Latin this word means curls and decorations.

Let’s make a simple budget cake for a tea party.

Ingredients for a budget cake:

  • chicken eggs – 8 pcs;
  • salt – a pinch;
  • sugar – 505 g;
  • butter – 110 g;
  • honey – 100 g;
  • milk – 880 ml;
  • baking soda – 8 g;
  • water – 100 ml;
  • flour – 170 g;
  • cornstarch – 60 g.

Preparation of budget cake:

Break into a deep bowl 5 eggs, pour 125 grams of granulated sugar in the same place. Beat the components with a mixer until the formation of a light, semi-thick mass.

In a saucepan over low heat, heat honey. Integrate into the honey soda, after the ingredients have reacted with each other, mix well and achieve an amber color.

Cover a 25×15 cm baking dish with foil, pour the dough onto the surface and spread it evenly. Bake the biscuit for 35 minutes at 170 degrees C.

Cut the biscuit in half after baking and cool in the refrigerator. In the meantime, for the cream you need to melt 200 grams of sugar in a saucepan. When the sand caramelizes, gradually pour 700 ml of milk into the saucepan, stirring constantly.

In a separate bowl, beat 3 eggs with the addition of 100 ml of milk and cornstarch. When the mixture becomes homogeneous, pour it into the caramel base.

Leave the custard to cool to room temperature to then add 60 grams of butter to it. Beat the butter and cream with a mixer until homogeneous consistency.

Similarly, melt 150 grams of granulated sugar in a frying pan. After caramelization, add the rest of the butter (50 grams), mix well.

Pour 80 ml of milk into the glaze, add a pinch of salt and mix additionally. The

Do not forget to cut off the excess pieces, as well as trim the sides of the biscuits. From the remains of the biscuits you need to make crumbs.
