The history of the Black Prince cake goes back to the distant past, when cooks experimented with different ingredients and created new desserts.
There are several versions of the origin of this cake.
One of them says that the Black Prince cake appeared in England in the XVIII century. Then it was a chocolate sponge cake soaked in fruit syrup and decorated with whipped cream. The cake got its name thanks to the dark chocolate used for its preparation.

It is prepared according to different recipes, adding different ingredients and creating new variations. But one thing remains unchanged – it is always a delicious and beautiful cake, which will become a decoration of any table.
Ingredients for the dough:
- kefir – 500 ml;
- flour – 500 ml;
- sugar – 250 ml;
- cocoa – 2 tbsp;
- baking soda – 1 tsp;
- leavening agent – 1 tsp;
- egg – 2 pcs.
Ingredients for the cream:
- butter – 200 g;
- sour cream 15-20% – 500 g;
- sugar – 250 g;
- dark chocolate – 50 g.
Preparation of the cake “Black Prince”:
Break eggs into a bowl, pour sugar and mix thoroughly until the grains of sand dissolve. Pour the kefir into the mixture, sift in the cocoa and flour.
Pour the baking powder and baking soda into the mixture and mix gently with a mixer to make a smooth, thick dough. Cover the baking molds with parchment, divide the dough into two parts and pour into the molds.
Bake the cakes at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes. For the cream, put butter in a container, pour sugar, add sour cream and whisk until homogeneous.
Release the cakes from the parchment and let cool

Divide a couple of cakes in two each. Crumble the rest of the sponge cake into crumbs.
Cream each cake, place in a pastry ring and assemble the cake. Sprinkle the top of the cake with grated chocolate and send it to the refrigerator for an hour.

After cooking, the cake can be sprinkled with sponge crumbs and chocolate on the sides. You get a simple sweet cake “Black Prince”.
