Delicious Khachapuri from pita bread. Lazy pie made of cottage cheese and cheese

In the Middle Ages, khachapuri was prepared in mountain villages using the simplest ingredients: flour, water, salt and, of course, cheese. Khachapuri quickly became a popular dish among people. It was served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cheese flatbreads were hearty and tasty, as well as easy to transport. This made them an ideal choice for shepherds and travelers.

Over time, the khachapuri recipe changed and improved. Different regions of Georgia developed their own types of khachapuri. In each family this flatbread is prepared according to a special recipe.

Let’s prepare khachapuri on our own.

Ingredients:

  • pita – 300 g;
  • eggs – 4 pcs;
  • milk – 200 ml;
  • cottage cheese – 400 g;
  • hard cheese – 130 g;
  • cilantro – 30 g;
  • dill – 20 g;
  • salt – ½ tsp.

Preparation of lazy khachapuri:

Grate cheese on a coarse grater. Beat eggs, add cottage cheese, mix the components.

Salt the mixture, pour milk to the cottage cheese mixture, pour cheese. Chop dill and cilantro, add to the mixture, mix.

Cut pita so that there are two long pieces, and the rest according to the area of the baking mold. Lay the two long pita pieces crosswise, pour in some of the filling.

Place a square pita on the filling, fill its surface with the mixture of cottage cheese and cheese. Repeat the algorithm until we run out of pita.

Cover the whole construction with pieces of long pita, lay the ends on top of the khachapuri. Smear the top with the rest of the filling, sprinkle with cheese.

Bake the khachapuri at 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
