There is a huge culture of flatbread eating that came to us from the East. In Central Asia, flatbread is still much more revered than the typical loaf of bread.
Probably, such a strong respect for flatbread is due to the history of these peoples, as well as culture and traditions. For example, it is not recommended to cut flatbread with a knife.
It is also not allowed to throw tortillas in the garbage – it is considered a sign of negligence and disrespect for bread.
It is worth telling how to prepare tortillas on water and without eggs at home

Ingredients for tortillas:
- Flour – 800 g;
- Water – 500 ml;
- Salt -1 tsp;
- Sugar – 1 tbsp;
- Yeast – 11 g;
- Vegetable oil – 3 tbsp.
Preparation of tortillas:
In a bowl of warm water pour sugar and salt – a spoonful each with a slide. Pour vegetable oil and yeast into the water, mix thoroughly until the grains of sand dissolve
. Sift flour and add to the yeast mixture in batches

Use a spoon to stir the dough constantly. Knead elastic, loose and slightly sticky dough with your hands.
Form a dough ball, cover with a lid and leave to rise in the heat.
Then grease your hands with vegetable oil and knead the dough again

We divide the dough into 6 equal lumps
, roll out with a rolling pin or form each lump with our hands into a flatbread equal to the diameter of the frying pan. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan
and make a hole in the middle of the tortillas
.
Put them on the frying pan one by one.
On medium heat fry the tortillas on both sides until golden. Lightly flatten the tortillas with a spatula.
If large bubbles form on the tortillas, poke them.
You get delicious simple flatbread without eggs on water. These flatbreads are quick to prepare and can easily replace bread.
