Fresh cabbage salad. The same as in the Soviet canteen: with lingonberries or cranberries

One of the memories from the USSR is the Soviet canteen. You can hear a lot of positive comments about public catering. The pies were like homemade pies, although they did not have abundant filling. Cutlets made of rice and bread also delighted the Soviet person. However, a separate niche of admiration is occupied by salads from Soviet canteens. This vitamin dish helped to digest food faster and saturated the body with vitamins.

Probably, it was thanks to salads that people suffered less from gastritis and ulcers.

We want to try to prepare a popular cabbage salad according to the recipe from the canteens of the USSR.

Ingredients for cabbage salad:

  • white cabbage – 680 g;
  • salt – 10 g;
  • cranberries – 100 g;
  • vegetable oil – 50 ml;
  • carrots – 100 g
  • sugar – 50 g;
  • 9% vinegar – 30 ml.

Preparation of cabbage salad:

Cabbage should be rid of the top shriveled leaves and kochan. Shinkuem cabbage with thin shavings, salt and knead until the release of juice.

Transfer the cabbage mass into a saucepan, pour vinegar and heat on medium heat for no more than a couple of minutes. Remember, when heating the cabbage, the mixture should be constantly stirred

Cranberries are washed in water and get rid of the water. In a salad bowl we combine cabbage, carrots, cranberries, granulated sugar and vegetable oil. Gently mix the ingredients in a bowl.
