Hard to believe! Strong homemade kvass in 3 hours: rich flavor

Kvass appeared in Egypt three thousand years B.C. In the 15th century there were about 500 types of kvass. In Russia, it is considered an independent drink, although in many other countries it is categorized as beer. The working class loved the drink, as it removed thirst and had nutritional properties. Until now, it is still actively sold on the shelves of stores, which gives us an excuse to try to prepare the drink at home.

Preparation takes no more than 3 hours. It is worth it for sure to try the recipe in your kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • water – 1.4 liters;
  • chicory – 1.5-2 tbsp;
  • sugar – 5-6 tbsp;
  • citric acid – 0.5 tsp;
  • dry yeast – 0.5 tsp.

Preparation:

We take 1.4 liters of warm boiled water. Add chicory, for a more intense flavor you can put two tablespoons with a slide.

To make kvass moderately sweet taste, add five tablespoons of sugar. If you prefer a sweeter kvass, it is better to put one tablespoon more.

Then pour in the liquid citric acid, as well as dry yeast

Mix the ingredients with a spoon and pour the contents into a bottle.

Close the bottle with a lid, it is important that air does not enter. Put it in a warm place so that the yeast can activate and make the drink carbonated.

After a while, check the hardness of the bottle. If it is sufficient, then the drink has become carbonated. Now let’s put the kvass in the refrigerator. The drink is ready! We can try it. It turned out delicious and simple. The kvass looks like store-bought kvass.
