Kvas is one of the oldest drinks. Its history goes back more than a thousand years. Kvas was known to the Eastern Slavs, who prepared it from various ingredients such as rye, oats, millet, peas, honey and berries. The
first mention of kvass dates back to 989, when Prince Vladimir I Svyatoslavich ordered to distribute “food, honey and kvass” to people in honor of the baptism of Kiev. Kvas was not only a tasty drink, but also an important source of vitamins and minerals. It helped people to cope with illness and fatigue. Over time, the recipe of kvass was improved. Various spices, fruits and berries began to be added to it. This allowed to create a lot of new flavors and aromas.

Ingredients:
- Water – 3 liters;
- Chicory – 4 tbsp;
- Citric acid – 1 tsp;
- Dry yeast – 2 tsp;
- Sugar – 10 tbsp.
Preparation of homemade kvass:
In a jar of 3 liters pour chicory, citric acid, dry yeast and sugar. Pour into the jar also water, cover the contents and mix thoroughly.
