Hot sandwiches in Germany are called “Brötchen” (brötchen). They are small slices of bread on which various fillings are put and fried in a frying pan or baked in the oven.

The fillings can be varied: sausage, ham, cheese, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, bacon, eggs, etc. Hot sandwiches can be either an independent dish or an appetizer. There are many variations of hot sandwiches in Germany, which differ in ingredients and preparation methods. For example, in Hamburg, sandwiches with salted mackerel are popular, and in Berlin – with curry sauce.

Let’s tell you how to prepare a similar German hot sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • hard cheese – 200 g;
  • pickles – 3 pcs;
  • sausage – 300 g;
  • salt – a pinch;
  • ground black pepper – a pinch;
  • mayonnaise;
  • dill – a bunch.

Preparation of hot sandwiches:

Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater. Cut pickles and sausage into small cubes, add to the cheese.

Salt the filling, pepper and dress with mayonnaise, mix. Chop dill finely, add to the stuffing and mix.
