The second name for cheesecakes is curds. Many people, for some strange reason, believe that cheesniki and curd are different dishes. The fact is that in ancient times cottage cheese was called cheese by the Eastern Slavs. Cheesecakes appeared approximately in the IX century, so this name was spread throughout the country.
Over time, cottage cheese acquired its usual name. Cheesecakes left unchanged, as the name caught on among the people.
How to cook puffy cheesecakes, as at grandma’s?
Ingredients for cheesecakes:
- 9% cottage cheese – 400 g;
- egg – pcs;
- sugar – 2 tbsp;
- semolina – 3.5 tbsp.
Preparation of cheesecakes:
Grind the grainy cottage cheese through a sieve. If the curd is creamy consistency this procedure is omitted.
Pour sugar into the curd, beat the egg, mix until the grains of sand dissolve. Pour semolina into the curd, stir the curd dough
. Cover the dough with cling film and leave it in the refrigerator for 8 hours.
Knead the dough again with your hands on a table sprinkled with flour.
Shape the dough into cheesecakes, making even pucks with the side of a knife.
Fry the cheesecakes in a frying pan with vegetable oil over a low-medium heat until golden.
Remove excess oil from the cheesecakes with a paper towel.
Simply place the cheesecakes on the paper towel for 5 minutes.
