The national Hungarian cuisine is full of various interesting dishes. For example, Hungary has paprikash, goulash and Viennese schnitzel. In addition, it was in this country that the classic lecho was invented. The
cuisine of Hungary is delicious and hearty, which is due to the people’s love for meat dishes. However, not all cooks can professionally repeat the national cuisine of the Hungarians.
Therefore, it is worth starting small – Hungarian chicken.
Ingredients for Hungarian chicken:
- chicken thighs – 4 pcs;
- salt – ½ tsp;
- butter – 30 g;
- olive oil – tbsp;
- red onion – pcs;
- garlic – 4 cloves;
- red pepper – tsp;
- flour – 2 tbsp;
- tomatoes – 4 pcs;
- broth – 300 ml;
- sour cream – 4 tbsp.
Cooking Hungarian chicken:
Sprinkle chicken thighs with salt and ground black pepper, smear with olive oil on both sides. In a skillet, melt butter, add olive oil
. Put chicken thighs in skillet and fry for 5 minutes on each side over medium heat.
Dice the red onion
, place the thighs on a plate and sauté the onion in the oil from the meat. Grate the garlic cloves on a small grater
, add the garlic to the onion, pour in the red pepper and flour, mix the ingredients in the pan. Divide tomatoes into 4 slices each, grind in a blender to a puree
. Add the puree to the onion mixture, pour broth and mix.
Place chicken thighs in the mixture, pour tomato sauce over them. Under a lid cook the thighs on low heat for half an hour.
Then put the thighs on a plate, and put sour cream in the tomato mixture, mix.
Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for a couple minutes.
We end up with a meaty Hungarian dish and gravy to go with it. If desired, you can add herbs to the thighs and tomato mixture.
