Belyash is a pie known to everyone who lived in the Soviet Union. Belyashi could be found at any train station and market. It was an indispensable food for workers. Belyashi were baked even in canteens, as they were hearty and tasty.

Of course, they say that modern belyashi is noticeably different from what was cooked before. Probably, the matter lies in the ancient recipes that were lost during the Soviet era.

However, not all cooking methods are bad. It is worth abandoning purchased belyashi in favor of home-made ones. Let’s show you how to make belyashi on your own.

Ingredients of dough for belyashi:

  • kefir – 400 g;
  • salt – tsp;
  • egg – pcs;
  • semolina – 20 g;
  • baking soda – tsp;
  • flour – 550 g;
  • vegetable oil – 50 ml.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • minced meat – 750 g;
  • onion – 300 g;
  • water – 70 ml;
  • salt – tsp.

Preparation of belyashi:

In a bowl with warm kefir break an egg, pour salt and beat thoroughly. Pour 120 grams of flour, semolina and baking soda into the kefir and knead the dough

. Pour the rest of the flour into the kefir and knead an elastic and soft dough on the table. Pour vegetable oil into the dough and continue kneading until it stops sticking to your hands.

Leave the dough in an oiled bowl for 30 minutes under a lid. Chop the onion finely and knead it with a kneader

. Salt and pepper the onion, add it to the minced meat and make a filling for the belyashi.
