Cheesecakes are still capable of perplexing foreigners. The fact is that cheesecakes come from the word cheese. However, if we look at the ingredients from which the dish is prepared, we will not find cheese in it.
So, the classic recipe for cheesecakes is not the right one?
This curd dish originates from the cuisine of the Western Slavs. Their pronunciation of the word curd is different from the way the word is pronounced by the Eastern Slavs. Therefore, cheese in the interpretation of the Western Slavs means cottage cheese. That is, if translated literally – cheesniki are curds.

Ingredients for cheesecakes:
- cottage cheese – 300 g;
- vegetable oil – 20 ml;
- eggs – 3 pcs;
- flour – 300 g;
- salt – tsp;
- baking soda – tsp;
- sugar – 100 g.
Preparation of cheesecakes:
In the dry cottage cheese you need to break eggs, pour in salt, baking soda and granulated sugar. Mix the mixture thoroughly to break all the large lumps and dissolve grains of sugar.
Pour vegetable oil into the mixture, mix again. Sift the flour into the curd mixture, knead a non-sticky and pliable dough.
Divide the dough into several large pieces, roll each piece into a 7-8 mm thick layer. While the oil is heating in the frying pan, use a glass or molds to divide the dough into small portions.
The resulting cheesecakes are placed in a frying pan, fried on both sides until golden.
These cheesecakes can be prepared a lot, so that enough for several days.
Sour cream or condensed milk goes well with this dish.
