One of the oldest types of desserts on our planet is considered to be jam. Archaeologists discovered jars of jam in ancient Egypt. Approximate date of storage of this sweet – 3.000 years BC. That is, jam accompanies mankind for quite a long time.
There are many different types of jam. Sometimes prepare a dessert from very unusual products. For example, from melon or watermelon, patissons and even zucchini. There are pumpkin and carrot jam
. For our mentality the most popular is apple jam. It is worth telling about one of the ways of cooking jam from apples.
Ingredients for “Amber slices”:
- apples – 2,200 g;
- sugar – 2.200 g.
Preparation of “Amber slices”:
Cut apples into small slices, remove the seed pods. Transfer apples into a saucepan, pour sugar.

Leave the apples with sugar for 8 hours until the juice forms. Stir the apple juice with the apples. Bring apples to a boil over medium heat and cook under a lid for 3 minutes.
Remove the apples from the heat and leave to cool completely. Then again put the apples on medium heat and bring to a boil.
Cook the apples for 2 minutes, and then leave until completely cooled. The
third time cook jam similarly, do not forget to first bring to a boil
.
The jar is sterilized and put on the edge of the knife, fill it with jam after the third cooking to the top.
We close the jars with lids tightly and leave to cool. The
result is a delicious apple jam with whole transparent slices
.
For this recipe it is recommended to take sour apples, otherwise the volume of sugar is better to reduce.
