Draniki are the most common potato dish. Of course, in addition to draaniki there are fries and mashed potatoes. However, fried potatoes are only an addition to the main dish. Draniki is an independent dish invented in Belarus. It
is impossible to know about the exact origin of draniki
.
Historians agree that draniki began to be made only after the XVIII century, because before there were no potatoes – the main product. In
addition, it should be taken into account that potatoes learned to use correctly not immediately. This means that probably, draaniki appeared in the XIX century. Let’s tell you the recipe for tender and delicious draniki.
Ingredients for draniki:
- Potatoes – kg;
- Butter – 50 g;
- Salt – 1.5 tsp;
- Green onions – 40 g;
- Parsley – 30 g;
- Cheese – 100 g;
- Eggs – 2 pcs;
- Ground black pepper – 1/2 tsp;
- Sour cream – 100 g;
- Flour – 5 tbsp.
Preparation of draniki:
Potatoes need to be peeled and boiled until soft. Add butter, salt (tsp.) to the potatoes and turn them into mashed potatoes
. Finely chop green onions and parsley, shred cheese on small grating cutters. Mix parsley, green onions and cheese with mashed potatoes.
In a bowl break an egg, add salt and ground black pepper, sour cream. Mix the ingredients, pour flour and knead the batter.
Form small cutlets from the mashed potatoes, dipping each one in the batter.
Heat 70 ml of vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the pancakes over medium heat until golden.
The result is an excellent substitute for classic pancakes. These pancakes can be used with sour cream, mustard and other sauces.
