Little information is known about one of the oldest dishes invented by mankind. We are talking now specifically about flatbread. Initially, people cooked this type of bread, not the loaves we are accustomed to.
Only after a while, mankind learned to bake bread in the form in which it is available in stores and bakeries. In the East and in Asia, it is the flatbread that is still valued. Even pies many peoples make as flatbread, but with stuffing inside.
Let’s tell you how to make snail flatbread with meat as in Central Asia.
Ingredients for snail cakes with meat:
- Water – 250 ml;
- Milk – 250 ml;
- Salt – tsp;
- Flour – 800 g;
- Leavening agent – tsp;
- Onion – 3 pcs;
- Meat – 400 g;
- Butter – 150 g.
Preparation of snail flatbread with meat:
Mix water with milk and salt, stir until the grains of sand dissolve. Sift flour mixed with baking powder into the liquid in two parts, knead the dough.
Divide the elastic soft dough into 4 equal parts, form lumps

Put the dough in cellophane.
To prepare the filling, cut onion into quarter rings, cut meat finely. Mix meat and onion, sprinkle with spices and salt to taste.
Sprinkle the work surface with flour, roll each block into a round thin layer with a rolling pin. Melt butter and grease
the layer. Place meat and onion pieces on the dough, spread evenly over all 4 layers.
Twist the layers into rolls, and form them into a snail.
Roll out the snails slightly with a rolling pin to make them flatter and remove any bulges. Cover a
baking
tray with parchment, lay the tortillas on the surface.
Grease each tortilla with a mixture of egg yolk and milk, bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
You get soft, flavorful tortillas-snail with meat. This is a good substitute for the usual meat pies.
