I don’t make pizza anymore. Belarusian smazhenki: a tasty hearty dish

A large number of people are aware of what pizza is. It is an Italian dish with a hearty filling, usually made of sausage, cheese and vegetables. However, not everyone goes into the details of the fact that our cuisine also has such a dish.

It is a round flatbread stuffed with various fillings. Mostly smazhenki are prepared without the use of sweet products. Otherwise, the pastry will turn into a watrushka.

How exactly the idea of the smazhenki recipe came about is difficult to say. Probably, the pie has a deep origin. Who knows, maybe the Italians were inspired by our traditional dish?

Ingredients for lard:

  • milk – 250 ml;
  • eggs – 2 pcs;
  • fresh yeast – 15 g;
  • sour cream – 3 tbsp;
  • sugar – tbsp;
  • ketchup – 2 tablespoons;
  • salt – tsp;
  • sausage – 200 g;
  • butter – 40 g;
  • carrots – 2 pcs;
  • flour – 410 g;
  • onion – pcs;
  • cabbage – 500 g.

Preparation of relish:

Warm milk should be combined with yeast, sugar and salt, mix well. While the yeast reacts, melt butter.

After the yeast has dissolved in the milk, pour the butter into it, sift the flour. Knead elastic and pliable dough by hand. Leave the dough in the heat covered for about 40 minutes.

At this time finely chop cabbage, grate carrots on a medium grater, cut onion into quarter rings. In a frying pan in vegetable oil fry the onion until golden. To onions integrate carrots, bring to softness. Do not forget to add spices and salt to taste.

To the fried vegetables put cabbage, wait until the white cabbage becomes softer. So far we cut sausage into small cubes, mix sour cream and eggs in a separate bowl.

Knead the dough, divide it into 12 identical lumps, which we turn into small tortillas

Make the sides of the tortillas a little higher than the bottom.

Smear the surface of the tortillas with ketchup, lay the roasted vegetables evenly on the bottom. Sprinkle the layer from the roast with sausage, cover with sauce from eggs and sour cream.

Transfer the relishes to a baking tray in parchment. Bake the dish in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes.
