Soup with dumplings was well known among peasants. They prepared this dish from leftover dough and rich broth. It was quite tasty and hearty. Then the soup began to be supplemented with other ingredients: potatoes, herbs, cheese. So the soup entered the diet of the working class.
Italian gnocchi are considered to be the progenitors of dumplings. Today we will use one of the easiest recipes for making soup with dumplings. It will turn out quickly and delicious, check it out.
Ingredients for the soup:
- chicken fillet – 500 g;
- onion – 100 g;
- potatoes – 250 g;
- carrots – 100 g;
- vegetable oil – 20 g;
- salt – 10 g;
- ground black pepper – 3 g;
- bay leaf – pcs;
- herbs.
Ingredients for the dough:
- flour – 70 g;
- egg – pcs;
- butter – 10 g;
- salt – 3 g.
Preparation of the soup:
First of all, let’s prepare the ingredients. Cut potatoes, onions and carrots into cubes, if desired for carrots you can use a grater. Cut the breast fillet into larger cubes.
At the bottom of the pot we will fry the prepared products. We use vegetable oil for frying. First cook onions and carrots, then add the fillet. When the chicken turns white, add 2-2.5 liters of water. Put a bay leaf and after boiling cook for 7 minutes.
Note that if the chicken is pre-fried, it cooks faster and does not give scale.
Then send potatoes into the pot

Take out the bay leaf.
Prepare the dough for dumplings. In a deep bowl break a chicken egg, pour salt, herbs and seasonings to taste. Combine with part of the flour, stir with a fork. Add melted butter, stir with a whisk. Pour in 30 ml of water and the rest of the flour. Stir until homogeneous
. Add the dough one tablespoon at a time to the soup.
Check the readiness of the dumplings by their location in the pot, if they float, they are ready.
Add herbs, salt, pepper and let the soup stand for 5 minutes. Bon appetit!
