I make lecho with this recipe every year. The appetizer goes down a treat: we drink the juice and soak it up

Lecho is a traditional dish that came to us from Hungarian cuisine. As practice shows, lecho can be found in many restaurants in Europe. It is prepared by cooks all over the world.

However, there is no exact recipe for lecho. There is only a small list of ingredients that are mandatory for this dish. Lecho can not be prepared without tomatoes, sweet peppers and onions. Otherwise, the dish can not be called a classic lecho.

Let’s show you how to deliciously prepare lecho at home.

Ingredients for lecho:

  • Peppers – 2,5 kg;
  • Tomato juice – 2 liters;
  • Salt – 2 tbsp;
  • Sugar – 4,5 tbsp;
  • Vinegar – 2 tbsp;
  • Vegetable oil – 100 ml.

Preparation of lecho:

Pepper sweet peppers clean from the insides, remove the white growths inside and the stalk. Cut the peppers into small pieces.

Pour tomato juice

into

a saucepan, pour salt and sugar. Adjust the salt and sugar to your own taste. It is better to take homemade juice, not store-bought

. Heat the juice, pour in vegetable oil and start laying out the peppers. If it was not possible to add all the peppers to the pot at once, it is worth waiting a little while until the first batch settles.

After adding all the peppers to the tomato juice, wait for boiling

.

After boiling under a lid, cook the lecho for 8 minutes. Next, pour vinegar into the lecho, boil for a minute and remove the pot from the heat.

Transfer the lecho into sterilized jars and seal with lids

.
