It turns out that sausage is one of the oldest products. They knew how to cook sausages already in ancient China, Greece, Rome and Babylon. The first sausage recipe was found in the territories of these countries. An almanac with sausage preparation methods dates back to 500 B.C.

Probably in those distant times sausage could be considered a natural product. Nowadays, many components in purchased sausage raise questions.

To save money on sausage products, we recommend preparing this product at home.

Ingredients for sausage:

  • pork knuckle – 3 kg;
  • salt – 2 tbsp;
  • onion – pcs;
  • black pepper – 5 peas;
  • carrots – pcs;
  • bay leaf – 3 pcs.

Preparation of sausage:

Thoroughly rinse the pork knuckle, remove all dirt from the skin. Put the knuckle in a pot, completely fill with water and cook for an hour.

Then to the knuckle in the water put not peeled onions, carrots, black pepper, salt and bay leaves. Cook the meat for 3 hours on minimum heat.

The prepared knuckle should be cooled and separated from the bone, veins and skin. Half a cup of broth strain, pour into the meat mass.

To the broth and knuckle squeeze garlic, run it through a press.
