There is a huge variety of flatbreads in the world. They are distinguished by the type of dough – muffin, rye and unleavened. Also flatbreads are cooked in different ways, for example, there is a tandoor method of cooking. In addition, each country and many peoples have their own types of flatbread
. There are bannock – an Indian flatbread, galettes – a French flatbread, lavash – an Armenian, Caucasian flatbread. Some such types of bread products have a religious character. Matzah is considered to be such a flatbread. It is the only type of bread allowed to be eaten on the Jewish holiday Pesach
. Let’s prepare a more simple and not timed to any holiday and people potato flatbread.
Ingredients for potato flatbread:
- Potatoes – 2 pcs;
- Eggs – 2 pcs;
- Cheese – 30 g;
- Salt – ⅓ tsp;
- Ground garlic – a pinch;
- Olive oil – 2 tbsp;
- Butter – 5 g;
- Parsley – a few sprigs.
Preparation of potato cakes:
Rub the peeled potatoes on a coarse grater. Break eggs into a container, salt and mix.
Rinse the potato mass in water, squeeze
it out.
Pour the egg mixture with herbs to the potato mass and mix.
Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet, put a part of the potato mass. Grate cheese over the potato
mixture and spread the rest of the potato mixture over the cheese layer, spreading it evenly

Sprinkle
the flatbread
with dry garlic, cover with a lid and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes.
Then turn the flatbread to the other side using a flat plate.
Sprinkle also dry garlic, cook on low heat for 10 minutes under a lid.
You get a simple potato flatbread with cheese filling. You can also add other spices to the dry garlic to taste.
