Pies with potato filling have been appreciated for quite a long time. They were the most affordable type of baked goods for the population of our country. The fact is that peasants did not have the means to buy meat. Therefore, meat products were replaced by vegetables – potatoes and cabbage. Vegetables
were added to all viands, including baked
goods.
After the enrichment of the country, potato pies did not leave the household. Baking with potato filling has become so familiar to people that no one wanted to remove it from the menu.
Let’s prepare puffy potato pies at home
.
Ingredients of the dough for potato pies:
- Kefir – 250 ml;
- Salt – tsp;
- Egg – pcs;
- Vegetable oil – 30 ml;
- Flour – 400 g;
- Baking powder – tsp.
Ingredients for the filling:
- Boiled potatoes – 4 pcs;
- Onion – pcs;
- Salt – tsp;
- Ground black pepper – a pinch.
Preparation of potato pies:
Pour salt into the kefir, break the egg and mix thoroughly with a whisk. Sift flour and baking powder into the kefir and knead the dough. Pour vegetable oil into the dough, knead the dough with your hands,

with cling film and leave it for 10 minutes. At this time turn boiled peeled potatoes into mashed potatoes.
Dice the onion, fry in a frying pan in vegetable oil until golden. Add the fried onions to the mashed potatoes, salt and black pepper, mix.
Form small balls from the potato mass.
Divide the dough into 10 parts, roll each part into a round cake 2-3 mm thick. Place balls of filling in the center of all the flat cakes.
Seal the mashed potatoes in the dough in the form of triangular patties.
Pour 100 ml of vegetable oil into a
frying
pan, heat it up,
place the patties in the oil, fry under a lid on medium heat until browned on both sides.
Transfer the pies to a paper towel to get rid of excess oil. The patties are delicious with potato filling.
