Flatbreads have been and remain a simple and nourishing dish for a large number of people. The cult of flatbreads is especially noticeable in the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Georgia. The fact is that in these countries flatbreads are considered a universal dish. Vegetables and meat are wrapped in tortillas. Different kinds of khachapuri appeared thanks to flatbreads.
Flatbreads as a kind of bread are treated reverently. For example, you can not cut a flatbread – it is torn. One should not eat flatbread with dirty hands because of respect for bread and for the sake of hygiene
. All flatbreads are prepared in different ways. There are difficult recipes for kneading, and there are simple ones. Let’s tell you about an easy recipe for kefir flatbread.
Ingredients for kefir scones:
- kefir – 400 ml;
- sugar – 2 tbsp;
- salt – tsp;
- mayonnaise – 3 tbsp;
- flour – 650 g;
- leavening agent – tbsp.
Preparation of scones on kefir:
In a bowl with kefir pour granulated sugar and salt, stir until the grains of sand dissolve.
Add mayonnaise, mix.
Sift flour and leavening agent into the kefir, knead elastic and not sticky dough
.
Leave the dough under a towel in the heat for 20 minutes.
Divide the dough into 6 equal parts, form koloboks.
Roll the koloboks with your hands into tortillas with a diameter equal to the bottom of the frying pan.
Fry the flatbreads in vegetable oil in a frying pan until browned on both sides.
These tortillas can be used as bread.
They make soft tortillas for soups and other dishes.
