Pies for many peoples, especially ancient ones, have quite a great cultural significance. As a rule, baking was a ritual food, which was prepared for special holidays.
For example, pies with potatoes in Slavic tribes were baked for the Maslenitsa holiday. This symbolized the departure of cold weather and the beginning of a new season of planting crops.
In addition, there are traditional Chinese pies – Zongzi. These are baked for the Lunar New Year festival. In such pies cooks put vegetables symbolizing the new year. In

Ingredients for potato pies:
- potatoes – 350 g;
- potato broth – 200 g;
- salt – tsp;
- sugar – tbsp;
- dry yeast – tbsp;
- egg – pcs;
- vegetable oil – 20 ml;
- flour – 550 g;
- green onion – bundle;
- dill – bundle.
Preparation of potato patties:
Boil potatoes until ready, peel and knead to a mashed state. Pour salt, dry yeast and sugar to the potatoes, break an egg, pour in the potato broth

Shinkle finely green onions and dill, add to the potato mixture.

Place the dough rolls in a frying pan with hot vegetable oil. Fry the dough rolls on both sides until browned.
