Almost everyone knows about lavash nowadays. It is a thin flatbread that was invented in the Caucasus. Often lavash is used for cooking shawarma, Caesar rolls and other similar rolls with vegetables and meat.
However, in addition to such a primitive use, lavash can also become a substitute for dough. For example, you can make cheburek in pita bread. It will turn out no worse than chebureks in ordinary dough.
Often meat is put in pita. It is important for such purposes to choose a thick elastic pita, which will not leak in the process of eating the dish.
Let’s tell you how to make a cheburek using pita
.
Ingredients for cheburek:
- Ground beef – 300 g;
- Cilantro – a small bundle;
- Onion – 1 pc;
- Lavash – 6 round tortillas;
- Cheese – 100 g;
- Butter – 20 g;
- Salt – ½ tsp.
Cheburek preparation:
Finely dice onions, chop cilantro and mix with minced meat, salt. Grate cheese on a coarse grater
and put minced meat on ½ of each pita. In advance, lightly dip the pita in water so that they do not crack. Sprinkle cheese on top of the stuffing.
Cover the stuffing with the second part of the pita and seal the wet edges.
In a dry skillet fry the chebureks for 4-5 minutes on each side. After frying, brush the chebureks with butter.
This makes a healthier version of cheburek.
The recipe does not use a lot of vegetable oil, which helps to avoid the accumulation of fat in the cheburek.
