Potato dishes have always been popular in many countries around the world. However, few people knew about potatoes in the Middle Ages. This vegetable was brought from America and was initially used as an ornamental plant. It was not until some time later that people realized that potatoes could be eaten. The
first attempts to eat potatoes were not successful. Many people were poisoned because most people did not know what exactly was in the potato.
Now potatoes have been studied thoroughly and many dishes are made from them. Let’s make on our own a potato roll with meat filling.
Ingredients for potato roll:
- potatoes – 900 g;
- cheddar cheese – 300 g;
- vegetable oil – 20 ml;
- salt – 4 g;
Ingredients for meat stuffing:
- ground beef – 500 g;
- vegetable oil – 20 ml;
- onion – pcs;
- green peppers – 3 pcs;
- red pepper – pcs;
- garlic – 3 cloves;
- tomato sauce – 25 g;
- tomato paste – 20 g;
- paprika – ½ tsp;
- black pepper – a pinch;
- cumin – a pinch;
- thyme – ⅓ tsp;
- salt – ½ tsp;
- parsley – 4 sprigs.
Preparation of potato roll:
Peeled potatoes cut into thin plates. Grate cheese on small grating cutters. Place parchment on a baking tray and spread an even layer of cheese. Overlap the potato plates on the cheese pillow.
Sprinkle the potato layer with salt and grease with vegetable oil. Bake the potato layer in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes.
To prepare the filling, fry minced meat in a frying pan with vegetable oil. Finely dice onions, peeled red and green peppers
. Put the peppers in the pan with minced meat along with the onions. Add tomato paste and tomato sauce to the mixture, mix.
Pour paprika, ground black pepper, cumin, thyme and salt into the mixture.
Chop parsley finely, add to the mince, mix.
Sprinkle the baked potato layer with cheese, put the mince with vegetables on the cheese layer.
Again sprinkle the meat layer with cheese, roll the potato layer into a roll with stuffing inside.
Sprinkle the top of the roll with cheese and parsley, bake in the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes.
You will get an excellent hearty potato roll with meat stuffing.
This dish will look great on a festive table.
