Many people think that there is a recipe only for Korean carrots. However, this is a misconception, as there are known methods of special Asian pickling of other vegetables.
Initially, pickling methods were invented by Koreans who, for political reasons, came to live in the USSR. Since Koreans did not have the usual viands, they came up with the idea of salting vegetables familiar to Soviet people.

Ingredients of Korean tomatoes:
- Tomatoes – 500 g;
- Vegetable oil – 3 tbsp;
- Vinegar 9% – 2 tsp;
- Sugar – 2 tsp;
- Salt – ½ tsp;
- Garlic – 4 cloves;
- Ground black pepper – tsp;
- Dill – a bunch;
- Basil – a bunch.
Preparation of Korean tomatoes:
Cut the tomatoes into small slices of 6 pieces. Finely chop bunches of dill and basil, as well as garlic cloves.
For the marinade you need to combine in a bowl dill, basil, garlic, vinegar, salt, sugar and ground black pepper. Pour the mixture with vegetable oil.
Place tomato slices in a mold and cover with a layer of marinade. Cover the mold with a lid and send it to the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
You can also add hot pepper to the marinade – to taste. The fresh basil in the recipe can be replaced with dried basil if desired.
