Which pies do people who lived in the USSR think are the tastiest? Judging by polls in social networks, most people from the Soviet Union are nostalgic mainly for pies with cabbage and meat.
These pies were usually prepared at train stations and markets

They were so delicious that local cooks and grandmothers could disappear from the shelves instantly.
Now such pies are not cooked – say some users of social networks. However, this judgment is most likely due to simple nostalgia for the past. You can make “those” pies with cabbage at home yourself.
Let’s make pies according to one of the old Soviet recipes.
Ingredients for cabbage patties:
- kefir – 700 ml;
- salt – 1.5 tsp;
- sugar – tsp;
- baking soda – tsp;
- flour – 400 g;
- cabbage – 600 g;
- carrots – pcs;
- onion – 2 pcs;
- vegetable oil – 2 tbsp.
Preparation of patties with cabbage:
Pour a spoonful of salt and granulated sugar into warm kefir, stir until the grains of sand dissolve. Sift the flour into the kefir in batches, knead the dough.
After the last addition of flour, pour baking soda into the dough, stir slightly. Shinkuem finely cabbage, cut a small diced onion, grate carrots
. In a frying pan fry onions and carrots in vegetable oil, salt. Add cabbage to the vegetables, pour in a little water and stew until ready.
Put the stewed cabbage in the dough, mix the components.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, lay out portions of patties with a tablespoon. Fry the patties over a low-medium heat until golden on both sides.
Such patties do not need to be proofed and kneaded for a long time. They are prepared as simply and quickly as possible.
