Cakes are the oldest dessert that came to people from ancient Rome. Back then, the cake was markedly different from what we have now. The Roman cake found by archaeologists consists of nothing but sponge cake. In the sponge is mixed not only flour, but also honey and various dried fruits. Back then, no one knew how to make cream. Therefore, cakes were baked similar to pies
. Only in the XVII century confectioners began to create a lush cream. It was actively combined with biscuits. So there were beautiful lush cakes, which were often found at balls at the nobility. Many emperors and empresses adored cakes and pastries with light airy cream.

Ingredients of sponge cake for the cake:
- Eggs – 2 pcs;
- Salt – a pinch;
- Sugar – 40 g;
- Butter – 15 g;
- Flour – 35 g;
- Cocoa – 10 g;
- Leavening agent.
Ingredients for the cream:
- Curd cheese – 200 g;
- Cream 33% – 250 ml;
- Condensed milk.
Ingredients for the glaze:
- Chocolate – 100 g;
- Vegetable oil – 40 ml;
- Peanuts – 100 g.
Cake preparation:
In a bowl break eggs, pour salt and sugar, beat until puffy. Add butter to the eggs, mix.
Sift flour, baking powder and cocoa to the eggs, knead a thick biscuit dough. Bake the biscuit at 180 degrees for 15 minutes, chop into coarse crumbs.
For the cream, mix the cottage cheese with cream and condensed milk, whip until fluffy and stable peaks.
Remove ⅓ of the biscuit crumbs from the mold.
Tamp the remaining crumbs and smear with boiled condensed milk. Put the cream into a pastry bag, decant it onto the surface of the condensed milk layer.
Sprinkle the cream layer with biscuit crumbs. On the surface of the crumbs, again decant the cooked condensed milk and cream. For the glaze, melt chocolate with vegetable oil,
pour chopped peanuts into the chocolate and stir. Spread the chocolate glaze with nuts on top of the cake.
Leave the cake in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
In the end we have a simple cake similar to the famous “Snickers” dessert.
