The history of salads began in ancient Rome, where they were prepared from a mixture of herbs, vegetables and fruits seasoned with salt, honey and vinegar.
During the Renaissance, salads became popular in Europe and were an obligatory attribute of feasts

Salad “Dreams of Love”
Ingredients:
- potatoes – 1 pc;
- beet – 1 pc;
- smoked chicken ham – 1 pc;
- onion – ½ pcs;
- salt – ½ tsp;
- sugar – 1 tsp;
- 5% vinegar – 3 tbsp;
- dill – a bunch;
- mayonnaise.
Preparation of salad “Dreams of Love”:
Cut the onion in half-rings, pour boiling water. After a couple of minutes pour out the boiling water, salt the onion and sprinkle with sugar. Water the onions with vinegar, cover in a container and stir.
While the onions are marinating, boil or bake beets and potatoes

Clean the ham from the bone, cut into small cubes.
Rub the peeled potatoes on a fine grater, form the first layer in the salad bowl. Salt the potato layer and smear with mayonnaise mesh.
Sprinkle the potato layer with chicken meat, also add mayonnaise mesh. Grate peeled beet, put it on the meat layer, cover with mayonnaise.
Sprinkle the top of the beet layer with pickled onions

Ingredients:
- potatoes – 1 pc;
- salted herring fillet – 1 piece;
- pickled cucumber – 2 pieces;
- pickled onion – ½ pcs.;
- salt – a pinch;
- unrefined oil – 3 tbsp.
Preparation of rustic salad:
Cut boiled peeled potatoes into small cubes, similarly cut herring and cucumbers. Put potatoes, herring and cucumbers in a salad bowl, add pickled onions
, salt the salad, dress with vegetable oil and mix.
